Wild Ride
It certainly has been an interesting year in the Florida Keys. An unseasonbly warm winter in South Florida has certainly brought a mixed blessing in fishing opportunities. The sailfish run has been later than usual this year. On the flip side dolphin have continued to pour through our waters bending rods of happy anglers. The warm water has kept the bottom fishing red hot all year with big mutton snapper and yellowtails gracing the dinner table. No matter what the conditions fishing cant be beat!

WOW!
What a great time it is to be in the Florida Keys! Mild temps combined with light breezes are dominating the weather pattern. There is no better time to take a break from the daily grind and pay us a visit.
Out in the blue water side Sailfish continue to attack live baits off the edge of the reef. Mixed in are also blackfin tuna, king mackerel, dolphin (mahi mahi), and mutton snapper. Swordfishing has allso been very productive with fish up to 300 lbs being caught.

Livin on the Edge
As of late the wind has dominated the fishing conditions off Key Largo and Islamorada. Rough seas did little to deter the die hards from finding the best dolphin bite we have seen all year. Dolphin or Mahi mahi are being caught from the edge of the reef to 300ft out and there is no shortage of big fish. The sailfish bite has improved with boats catching up to 7 sailfish a day. On the wrecks captains are finding big grouper, cobia, snapper and wahoo. This time off year large wolfpacks of wahoo show up off the upper keys. Its a great time to be on the water in paradise!
Break away from the daily grind and come catch some fish!

Awesome Fishing
Fished a private boat out of Key Largo today. It was a beautiful, 80 degree sunny day and seas were about 3 - 4 ft on a north wind with light current. Sargassum weed was scattered from 50 ft to about 300ft. Hooked about 2 dozen mahi mahi from 10 to 20 pounds on live ballyhoo. Also caught and released three sailfish mixed in with the dolphin. The bottom rod produced 2 mutton snapper and 1 black grouper that were destined for the dinner table.
Fishing only gets better through winter. Call me today to book your next Islamorada Fishing Charter!

Sailfish Arrive!
UNpredictable weather has really kept the fleet on its toes this month. The transition from fishing deep sea for mahi mahi to fishing the edge of the reef is in effect.
Cold fronts have brought the first waves of migrating sails. Mahi mahi, mackerel, jacks and sharks have also made their presense known on local reefs and wreck. Keys fishing only gets better and better as the temps drop.
We offer split charters and tournament fishing. Give me a call sometime to talk fishing!

The cure for slow season
September sends tourists away from our vacation paradise. The highway is pleasantly quite and boats are restlessly sitting at the dock. This is the perfect opportunity to take a day trip and get out on the water.
The offshore bite continues with regular catched of mahi mahi, blackfin tuna and wahoo out to 25 miles. Swordfish catches continue to grace the dock with fish upwards of 400lbs being landed.
The reef bite remains strong at nighttime with catches of yellowtail snapper up to 24", big mutton snapper and mangrove snapper. Night fishing is a unique experience that allows you to beat the daytime heat.

Dolphin, Wahoo and Tuna action
The offshore bite has remained strong well into August. Larger mahi mahi in the 10 to 40 pound range have really put smiles on the face of our clients. Schools of blackfin and skipjack tuna keep anglers busy between dolphin bites. Wahoo have finally shown up with reports of wahoo as large as 80lbs being caught.
On the reef, yellowtail snapper are spawning and they are big & hungry. Catching your limit of these tasty reef dwellers is an experience you won't soon forget. Night fishing is as good as it gets. Multiple swordfish are being landed at night on the full moon.

Hot Days = Cool Nights
The dog days of summer bring hot temps and red hot fishing! Offshore we are finding schools of mahi mahi from 10 to 20 miles out. Most fish are in the 10 to 20 lb range, with fish up to 50lbs being caught occasionally. Mixed in are catches of blackfin tuna, wahoo, sailfish and the occasional marlin.
On the reef snapper has been fantastic. Yellowtail, mutton and mangrove snapper are being caught from 50 to 150 ft of water. Grouper and mackerel have been showing themselves as well. Night time reef fishing is a great way to beat the heat of the July sun.

Offshore Adventures
Long summer days find us trolling lures and rigged baits in search of pelagic species such as; Dolphin(mahi mahi) tuna, wahoo, marlin, sailfish and swordfish. Finding dolphin out in waters past 20 miles gives us the unique ability to pursue swordfish during the day. 3 deep drops in 1500 ft of water produced 3 bites and 1 swordfish release. Also caught 30 mahi on our way back.

Strong Eastern winds bring the bite
Mahi Mahi season is in full swing with most of the fish being caught within 15 miles of shore. Several days this week we caught our limit of dolphin and yellowtail snapper on the same day.
A blue water edge brought a strong showing of sailfish into the reef for a couple of days. Along with sailfish come blackfin tuna, bonita and mackerel.

Mahi Mahi, Sailfish and Grouper
Gaffer and heavy lifter dolphin continue to show up on the docks , although the big push hasn't happened. Sailfish continue to work the edge of the reef. Fishing live bait on the surface will draws strikes from these acrobatic pelagics. Dropping live ballyhoo on the bottom has produce nice grouper and mutton snapper.

Awesome Blackfin Tuna Bite!
The blackfin tuna are all over the offshore seamounts and fish over 30 lbs have been landed regularly. Captains are using live baits to bring the tunas to the surface and presenting 20-30lb standup gear to finish the job.
Where there are tunas, there are also marlin and sharks. One of my clients hooked and caught a 300lb blue marlin on a 20lb spinning rod last week. Talk about a once in a lifetime opportunity!!

Slammers, Gaffers, Schoolies, Oh My!
Rough seas and an early push of big mahi mahi make for an interesting
day on the Strictly Business. Fishing with our friends John and Deb we boxed 30+ dolphin with two over 25lbs on a full day trip. One fish was 55 inches and broke both of their previous records!
All I know is a town in Wisconsin is enjoying the best fish fry they've had in a while! Thanks again for fishing with us John & Deb!
